About Adobe Learning Manager
Adobe Learning Manager is a cloud-based learning management system (LMS) with a learner-focused environment, offering multiple learning options and course formats, unified playback of most eLearning content types, gamification, AI-based recommendations and social learning.
A single platform for all digital learning needs - Adobe Learning Manager helps deliver stellar learning experiences to employees, partners and customers alike.
The learner dashboard allows learners to view their progress through their enrolled courses, a map of their attained skills, and recommended courses. Adobe Learning Manager also includes customizable gamification features, and learners’ points earned from course completions and awarded badges can be viewed on their dashboards, with information on activities that can be undertaken to earn more. Leaderboards can also be launched from the dashboard, comparing a single learner’s score to those of their peers.
Adobe’s fluidic player enables the playback of eLearning content in multiple formats, including videos, PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, PDFs, and more, with no plugins needed to use the player. Learners can bookmark course sections and add notes to specific points in the content for later reference.
Users can upload reference content into Adobe Learning Manager, giving learners access to information needed for or useful to their roles, without the need to enrol in any courses. Programs can be set up to allow learners to self-enrol, or to require either manager nomination of learners, or manager approval of enrolments. Users can also build personalized dashboards to track activity in real time, including events, assessments, interactions, course progression, and skill attainments.
The award-winning artificial intelligence ensures that the right course recommendations are made based on learner history, course history, skills and interests.

Captivate Prime - getting better

It has been good for setting up the programme - but I cannot really fully commercialise the programme until document security is better. It is easy to use, a good interface for learners. It has been a good experience but a little way to go yet in some parts of the application.
Pros
The product is evolving and starting to become a lot easier to use - a simple PDF manual would also help to bring new administrators on. It does the job well and the licencing is flexible. It is so much improved from around 18 months ago. I have found the product easier to manage and the addition of some simple features like deletion of modules has made content easier to catalogue and manage.
Cons
The product still has not adopted to meet commercial training provider needs, there is no paywall for example. There are also some simple things that commercial training providers need - after much discussion with ADOBE ACROBAT PRO DC teams, the pdf security (no printing or copy/pasting settings) are undone by PRIME when content is loaded (users can simply highlight, copy and paste content). This means a student or anyone accessing the programme can easily copy/paste content. This simply creates the capacity for IP loss. Its a small change I suspect - but critical in protecting IP for commercial providers. In the end I have had to use a workaround with MP4s. Support on the PRIME side was contradictory - despite ACROBAT testing the feature.
Reasons for Switching to Adobe Learning Manager
Great pricing, it was obvious that early on that the product was in its infancy and I was in no rush to launch as I was busy creating content. I would not switch now as the product has evolved and is close to what I need.- Industry: Financial Services

Overall, the ACP sales team is very good at what they do in advertising features. The basic functions of integrations with an HRIS is complex and needs to be well tested before you enter in a contract. The basic functions for calendaring needs to be well tested to make sure Adobe systems communicate with your email provider. Reporting looks extensive but requires a lot of your own manipulation to be useful.
Pros
The user experience is strong and the look of the platform is very eye appealing. You can customize tiles by your own images and branding. The UX can be customized to your organization colors as well. SSO has worked very well for users.
Cons
Integration in Workday has taken 2.5 years to resolve and they advertised it would instantly work. There are a lot of reports but they only come in excel files and if you want something more comprehensive, you need a strong analyst or a Power BI license with someone who knows how to extrapolate data into dashboards. The dashboards in ACP are on a day lag for reporting. The basic calendaring functions for live or virtual classes (send out invites, update invites, cancel meetings) is the most basic function and is still inconsistent/unreliable for us. Their support team takes extensive time to resolve problems or never resolves them or takes them a long time to provide a work-around or just acknowledge they cannot fix something.

[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] has been great to work with, however, when items need to be escalated sometimes the issue is with Captivate and not Prime or somewhere in the upload. It would be very helpful to have someone who understands both software. Also, the people at the help desk are nice, but I lack confidence in their knowledge. There have been a couple of occasions where they think something can be done, but when testing it, realize it cannot be done. If this is my escalation point, I feel they should be experts. Something as simple as the non-optional playbar should be common knowledge with an expert.
Pros
Ease of updating courses. I appreciate the sandbox so that I can test and learn. The ability to add branding. Preview as learner.
Cons
Toggling between Author and Administrator when uploading a course and assigning learners. Non-optional playbar. Deciding on how many points are needed to complete a skill. When the system is new it is an unknown number. Some modules within a course receive a checkmark when complete, but some show complete, but a checkmark is not displayed. This is confusing for the learner. Set incidents for completion based on when the course was pushed. For example, if a course is pushed automatically and should be completed within 2 weeks. It appears that the software will all set an actual date due.
Reasons for Switching to Adobe Learning Manager
The presentation seemed more user-friendly than it actually is. I liked the option for social learning. I liked the graphics on the dashboard. It had more of a high-tech look. I felt that Adobe products, in general, are focused on being high-tech and therefore, the product would remain fresh and current looking.- Industry: E-Learning
