Vimeo's live streaming platform delivers a full HD viewing experience ad-free with custom branding and graphics straight from your browser. You can use chat, polls, and moderated Q&A to grab your viewers’ attention while simulcasting to social and apps or RTMP.

As the industry standard for online video hosting, Vimeo allows you to host, manage, and share your videos in HD, or even 4K HDR, all from the Vimeo website. No matter what type of plan you’re on, from Free to Enterprise, Vimeo never put ads before, during, or after your video. Period.

But Vimeo lets you go beyond just watching video with a new suite of interactive tools. Now you can engage your viewers by adding interactive touchpoints to your videos that encourage viewers to engage more deeply with your content. Choose from sticky hotspots or informational overlays to produce shoppable videos, training quizzes or brand marketing videos.

Vimeo lets users publish content across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other social media networks. It includes a centralized dashboard, which allows businesses to gain insight into content engagement, conversions, and more via analytics. Plus, it integrates with various many of the applications you use such as Asana, Dropbox, Figma, Google Drive, HubSpot, Marketo,, Adobe Premiere, and Slack.

Vimeo has been a great video host for our content, allowing us to livestream and archive as well as embed and link content with trustworthy quality.

Pros

Clean and professional interface for content creators and for viewers. Great options for embedded video. Secure and reliable archived videos.

Cons

Some limitations in setting up search options for videos. Otherwise, no significant cons or negative experiences to note.

Alternatives Considered

BoxCast, Meta for Business and Wirecast

Reasons for Switching to Vimeo

Vimeo gives the ability to livestream and archive content, with high-quality storage - other options only stream or only provide storage or have low-quality/compressed storage.

Decent video hosting with some minor caveats

Reviewed on 16/07/2019

Pros

Vimeo's main competitors like Wistia cost so much more and for small businesses, most can't afford Wistia. Vimeo has been a fine option for video hosting, good value for money.

Cons

We have clients from all over the world and we found out later on that some clients couldn't view the video's hosted on Vimeo. We found out that Vimeo is banned in some countries, while that's not really their fault per se, but it is a pain in the butt as we didn't really have alternative options for video hosting for those countries.

Wistia

Reasons for Choosing Vimeo

We realised Amazon S3 wasn't optimized for delivering video content (yes, we could use their Elastic cloud front but we preferred going with a provider that specialised in video and handled all the video conversion elements which Amazon doesn't handle).

"Free Trial" Can't be used or published or viewed

Reviewed on 02/08/2023

Pros

Uploading videos to share for free and stuff

Cons

I spent 30 hours editing this impactful video with the free trial editing tool. At the end of trial, I did not subscribe to continue using the editing tool. So now.... my video is gone! I can't publish it and no one can see it. So Vimeo robbed me of 30 hours plus several hours of email customer service because there is no number to call.

Vimeo is one of my Daily Go-To Work Tools!

I use this program daily and so appreciate its availability and useability for my clients.

I use this program daily and so appreciate its availability and useability for my clients.

Pros

I love that I can upload a file, and instantly get the link even before the file upload is complete. That saves me a lot of time. I also really like that I can go back in and change the intro image on the video.

Cons

It's not as easy as drag and drop to move folders around and organize them. I honestly haven't given it a lot of effort, but it's not super obvious.

Great - love the software.

Great - love the software.

Pros

Honestly, love the Vimeo Record option the most. It has made training individuals 100x easier and faster. And you can choose to show your face in the video or not which is nice.

Cons

I wish there was an a-la-carte option for purchasing features. We do not need ALL the features in the next level up so won't be paying for it but a few would be nice to have. And same for the tier above that one.
