About BVS
BVS is a powerful software solution for library media management. It supports the day-to-day processes of librarian tasks, such as acquisition, lending, and statistic reporting. The catalog function can import media from external sources, such as CDs and DVDs, ZACK's search engine for books, and the network protocol of Z39.50.
Data can be exported in CSV or library-specific formats, including MAB and MARC21. The package also facilitates inter-library book exchanges by utilizing the BAFO protocol. BVS offers a reader-oriented list of specialized media, and the software can also provide recommendations. BVS is capable of printing matching labels to help libraries present holdings clearly in a uniform manner. Another function supports the ability to contact readers via SMS and email for notifying users about renewals, reminders, reservations, as well as account or balance statements. The software can automate procedures if appropriate data is made available. There is no need to deploy a separate email program. The licensing policy is structured to enable smaller libraries to use BVS.
It can be used free of charge for institutions that require no more than 2,000 media uploads. There is a non-network-compatible version that starts at €320.20 euros. Depending on the number of workstations required, BVS also has a network-compatible professional version that starts at €632.64 euros. Optional maintenance and support contracts are available, and their maintenance contracts include all necessary updates.

Pros
To be honest, in the 2+ years, I was not a fan of BVS. System was outdated and lacked all the features other systems have.
Cons
The whole experience was not positive. Additional upgrades are a must for BVS to improve.
